VOID TTRPG Encryption Puzzle

VOID is a tool for Wardens and Game Masters to create cryptogram puzzles. It's designed for the TTRPG Mothership but can also be used with other modern or sci-fi games.

A cryptogram is a type of puzzle where each letter in the original message is replaced with another letter, based on a specific key. For example, 'A' might be replaced with 'Z', 'B' with 'Y', and so on. The goal is to decode the message by figuring out the substitution pattern. With VOID, you can generate encrypted messages using substitution encryption and customize the encryption key. Once you've pasted in the text and adjusted the substitutions you can copy and paste the URL from "Player View" and the link should put them right into the puzzle.

To solve a cryptogram, players can look for common letters and words, use letter patterns, and apply frequency analysis to match letters. If players need some hints they can look for common one-letter words like "I" and "A," two-letter words like "is," "it," and "to," and three-letter words like "the," "and," and "but." Spotting these common words can help figure out the substitution pattern. Players can also pay attention to repeating letter patterns and use context clues from the story to guess certain words. You can also check the box under each letter to make it pre-filled.
